The Amazon WaSH Team:

The Amazon WaSH Project team is an interdisciplinary group of volunteer students, faculty, and alumni from George Mason University (GMU). Dr. Mike Gilmore, the faculty advisor of the project, has been working in the Peruvian Amazon with the Maijuna indigenous group for over 15 years. The Maijuna expressed their desire for clean drinking water for the well being of their children and elders to Mike, which inspired him to reach out to the GMU community for volunteers interested in developing humanitarian projects with the Maijuna. The alumni and student project team members come from a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, nursing, sociology, anthropology, environmental science, photography, global affairs, and conflict analysis and resolution.
