As an elementary education major, Jen was interested in examining the ways in which the public was educated about light pollution. The result of her research was a combination of finding organizations that have an interest in reducing light pollution, their resources for educators to teach their students, and ways in which individuals can reduce their light pollution impact.
BRITTANY GRUTTER
Terrestrial Species

Wanting to dive deeper into her understanding of the negative impact light pollution has on organisms, Brittany wanted to know the impact on terrestrial organisms. These species are less discussed when regarding the issue, rivaling the popularity of species such as sea turtles. Her section will focus on birds, amphibians and mammals and the danger they face from light pollution.
ASHLEY FORTNER​
​Marine Species
Eager to embrace her deep love of the sea, Ashley was quick to jump at the opportunity to delve into the world of aquatic organisms through the lens of light pollution. Her species of focus include Zooplankton, Coral Reefs and Sea Turtle populations. She will also discuss current conservation practices and concepts for future implimentation for these species.

When presented with the opportunity to delve into a specific topic area of light pollution, Kiera decided to tackle her fear of politics and explore the world of regulation. She looked at what policies had already been implemented regarding the reduction of light pollution and explored future possibilities that could change the nightscape of the United States.

About Light Pollution
Light pollution is something I never thought was a huge issue, until I researched what light pollution was. It opened my eyes to see how much of a negative impact light pollution has on our environment.
